PRINCETON, N.J. — Sept. 18, 2025 — Pollen Productions announced the release of Beyond the Signer: The Life of John Hart. This historical documentary explores the life, service, and enduring legacy of John Hart, a New Jersey signer of the Declaration of Independence with deep ties to Hopewell, N.J.

Produced for The Hopewell Museum and the Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence (DSDI), the film blends archival material, expert interviews, and location filming at historic sites across Hopewell and Mercer County to bring Hart’s story to contemporary audiences. John Hart represented New Jersey at the Continental Congress and signed the Declaration in 1776, while continuing to serve his Hopewell community as a farmer, businessman, and legislator.

“While he might be one of the lesser-known signers, John Hart’s story is undeniably vital to the complete understanding of this nation’s origins,” said Gregory Munro, a member of the DSDI and direct descendant of John Hart.

“Our goal for this documentary was to present the research of the Hopewell Museum and DSDI about this local historical figure in a manner befitting his legacy,” said Luke Owen, founder and CEO of Pollen Productions. “We set out to make a film that highlights the local area and the important role it played in the founding of this nation.”

This film presents the most comprehensive information currently available about the signer, according to the extensive research conducted by the Hopewell Museum and the DSDI over the past year.

The documentary’s featured voices include local historians and community leaders, with scenes filmed at historically significant locations in and around Hopewell and Princeton. The production is intended to be accessible and educational for both the local community and beyond.
